From the Photographer:  When Wedding Paper Divas contacted me to do a styled shoot for them, they gave me an open slate and told me to come up with something cool that would speak to a modern bride.

Durham is one of the strongest up-and-coming cities in North Carolina. From DPAC, trendy restaurants, and endless food trucks, we knew this town would be the perfect inspirational spot. 21C is a newly minted 24-hour museum, which also happens to double as a hotel – and a place where couples can actually get married.

With the location in mind, it was easy to call up Shana and Anthony – an awesome couple whose engagement I shot last year and wedding I’ll be shooting later this year. It just so happens they also have an amazing designer, Nishaka, who joined in to design this shoot.  She was the perfect person to seamlessly blend in striking, bold elements with the museum’s unique artwork.

From the Designer:  When I received the call from Hooman (Vesic Photography) about the styled shoot, I was more than honored and excited to accept the challenge.  After we met and discussed the venue idea and concept, Hooman loved it and said go for it!

Seeing 21C in person inspired me – it gave me life and the dreams and vision of a bride started to come to life for me in my mind’s eye!  I knew I wanted the design concept to lead with a white base, then add in navy blue and gold for fun wedding accents; eventually, even a touch of blush and green came into the concept to complete our urban, modern and romantic wedding inspiration. While pops of color may seem like a bold choice, they are sometimes the most elegant option for a sophisticated venue.
